About Dharavi Redevelopment Project
Department of Housing, Government of Maharashtra vide its Government Resolution No. SRA/2003/C. No.-189/SIum-1A dated 4th February 2004 decided to redevelop Dharavi Notified Area by appointment of developers and using land as a resource for rehabilitation of slum dwellers and allowing incentive floor space index (FSI) in the form of tenements for sale in the open market. The said scheme is known as “Dharavi Redevelopment Project".

Ans. The Dharavi Redevelopment Project or DRP is a ‘Vital Public Purpose and Special Project’ by the Government of Maharashtra (GoM) that aims to transform Dharavi as an integrated, planned and self-sufficient township for the purpose of rehabilitation of slum dwellers.
Ans. The Dharavi Redevelopment Project or DRP is being implemented by the Dharavi Redevelopment Project / Slum Rehabilitation Authority (DRP/SRA), which is the Special Planning Authority appointed by Government of Maharashtra for the project. The execution of the project will be undertaken by Navbharat Mega Developers Pvt. Ltd. (Formerly DRPPL) where the DRP/SRA is a joint venture partner.
Ans. The ownership of the land in Dharavi Redevelopment Project will remain with the
Government of Maharashtra.
Ans. The Survey is the foundational step towards transforming Dharavi into a modern and
well-planned urban area. The survey is being conducted to gather comprehensive data on the residents and
structures within Dharavi, which is essential for determining who is eligible for rehabilitation and the
type of rehab unit that they will receive.
The DRP/SRA has issued a Public Notice on 11th March 2024 announcing the date of commencement of Survey with a request to all slum dwellers in Dharavi to participate in the Survey. The notice also mentions the process that will be followed by the Surveyors while conducting the survey and the relevant documents that need to be furnished by the slum dwellers. Thus, participation of all slum dwellers in the survey is crucial to ensure that the redevelopment process is transparent and efficient and all slum dwellers get their due entitlement
